The McCormick Sisters: Home

Distinctive, artistic, and independence
is what one will notice once he/she listens to the music of
The McCormick Sisters. Being exposed to a sizeable genre
of music from quartet to classical composition,
the sisters easily show evidence of it in their
song writing and arrangement skills.

The composition of the McCormick Sisters’ music is unique in itself. Distinctive in style and grace, their songs have provided inspiration to people from all walks of life. Each song has a message tailored to the specific needs of those who are hurting, suffering, needing inspiration/motivation. Its flavor and style has opened doors for the sisters to minister in multiple arenas, ministering words of life to those who fellowship in synagogues and tents; cathedrals and sanctuaries; jail houses and hospitals; civic centers and community centers.

The uniqueness of their style has been richly embraced and widely accepted among the secular genre. Their music continues to provide hope and inspiration to all who hear it, whether it’s a first time listener or an avid fan. People are empowered with a sense of pride, self-worth, and increased knowledge in knowing they are somebody who is richly loved and appreciated by a higher power we so amorously call “God Jehovah El el yon.”

It has been nearly 15 years since The McCormick Sisters released an album. Just as the first and second LP offers versatility, this one (equally) presents the same. What’s different about this project? It is the first cd to be released under Ensue Music, LLC, an independent record label launched August, 2009 by Julie McCormick-Gilbert. Ensue simply means "to come to pass."

The McCormick Sisters are no novices when it comes to ministry, thanks to their parents, Dr. Queen and Bishop Samuel McCormick (founders/pastors of New Birth House of Prayer for all People, Inc. in the city of Ft. Lauderdale). As “PKs” each of the sisters were trained to serve in just about every capacity in the church from cleaning to ministering the word of God.

Extremely involved in their church, some of the ministries the sisters are engaged in are: praise and worship, finance, outreach, ministerial, hospitality, women’s, administration, youth, choir, homebound, prison, armor bearer, compassionate hearts serving hands, parent resource, project J.A.G. (Juveniles Achieving Goals), intercessory prayer, broadcast ministry, and many more. Their two youngest sisters, April and Christine are also active in the ministry.

Like Priest, Like People. Prior to being called into the role of pastors, their father sang quartet gospel with the Gospel Trotters while their mother sang with the Williams Sisters of Ft. Lauderdale, FL. Their mother was also a gospel music Disc Jockey who introduced many recording artists to listening audiences for many years. Furthermore, their parents have been promoting gospel for the past 35 years and are founders of the South Florida Quartet Convention.

Their mother trained them to sing very early in life. As youngsters, the McCormick sisters had to be placed on chairs when they sang - in order to be seen by the congregation. Growing up, a typical Saturday for them was not spent in the mall, at a game, or movie - but in convalescent homes, state and county hospitals, prisons, and the homes of individuals who were bedridden.

The McCormick Sisters grew up in The House of God, Keith Dominion where their grandfather, the late General Elder, Dr. B.J. McCormick built and pastored the church in Pompano Beach, FL.

Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6)

The sisters recall the time when their mother would awaken them for early morning prayer. Each agree that there were mornings they would rather sleep-in than to rise and pray before the sun rise. However, they are very grateful for their mother's persistence in having morning prayer - for it has been the foundation that has kept the family together. Presently, the McCormick Family connects with each other every morning via the telephone (regardless of their location) to have family prayer.

Additionally, to this day, the McCormick Sisters continue to make home visits, go to prisons and hospitals to minister to individuals who are shut in. This they do with a heart of compassion.
